Our Mission "To empower children with the knowledge that they each have the right to be safe, strong, and free from abuse." | |
CAPA provides educational child abuse prevention programs to children, their parents and teachers from ages preschool through high school. These programs are presented in schools on a classroom by classroom basis teaching children invaluable strategies and life skills for preventing kidnapping, child maltreatment and abuse. Originally the programs were state funded, but all funding for prevention education was eliminated from the state budget in 1990. Several of the original program presenters felt the workshops were still critically needed and pursued continuing them in southern Alameda County. The programs used by CAPA are nationally acclaimed and were developed by the Children’s Self Help Project, Child Assault Prevention Project (CAPP), Center for Abuse Prevention. CAPA programs are presented in three parts: teacher in-service, parent program and children’s workshop. Today CAPA serves over 9,000 children, parents and teachers annually. Since our incorporation as a non-profit agency in 1991, we have served over 140,000 people with our empowering, educational workshops. | Support CAPA by shopping at |
